I grew up near Jackson, Mississippi. My childhood best friend's home was my second home, her yard the backdrop for some of my most treasured memories.
Childhood summers chasing lightning bugs, running through the yard until the sky turned honey gold. When the weather was too hot, I'd sit for hours in my grandparents' playroom looking through their plastic photo cases. Due to life's circumstance, there were few photos of myself and my siblings. So few proof-of-moments. Even as a child, I felt the ache of a time passed without being captured. Photography became my way of making sure other's don't feel that same ache.
These days I'm on the other side of the lens. I live in a small, mountain community with my husband, our baby boy, Simon, and three dogs who have absolutely no concept of personal space. My camera is never far away. Simon doesn't know it yet, but he might be the most documented toddler in Jefferson County - because I know firsthand how quickly the little moments disappear.
As your photographer, I'm not only looking out for you now - I'm thinking about what memories you'll want to look back on years from now and the details you'll want to remember.
My style is a mix of natural, candid moments and editorial-worthy portraits resulting in stunning, ageless photos that tell a beautiful story.
When I'm not behind the camera, you can find me snuggled up with a good book, enjoying great food, and soaking in all the little moments with my little family.
Photography found me long before I ever picked up a camera
What's in a name? Having grown up in the deep south, when I think of honey, I think of the perfect, early summer golden hour. I think of lightning bugs, hummingbirds, and my Great Aunt Dell's coconut cake. For me, honey represents all the little moments that can make a real life oh so sweet. Honey is nostalgia bottled up in a golden teddy bear. But, nostalgia isn't perfect. That's where the salt comes in. Salt is gritty - just as some of life's most memorable moments can be - and I live for the salt. It's what makes every story I shoot an original.
My photography style lends itself to authenticity. I strive for true-to-color, natural light while chasing those dramatic shadows and sunbursts that take everyday moments from mundane to magical.
I use a lighter hand when editing. You won't find your freckles or that scar you got from a rogue 4th of July sparkler missing. My philosophy is to leave the permanent and always ask about the temporary.
THE SWEET YOU want to REMEMBER. THE GRIT THAT MAKES IT REAL.
getting to tell your story is what lights me up
The noise, the tenderness, the toddler who refused to cooperate, and the moment right after when everyone laughed anyway. These are the photos people pull out decades later. Let's make sure you have them.
FOR FAMILIES
You don't want a wedding that's performative. You want a day that's entirely yours - just the two of you, a place that means something, and vows that mean something. I'll be right there with you for all of it.
