Frequently asked questions

How do i book? how far in advance?

Payment schedule & cancellation policy

First, submit an inquiry and we'll have a free consultation to make sure we're a good fit. If we are, you'll pick a date, pay a 20% retainer, and I'll block off my calendar. That's it! As far as when? Sooner is always better. For elopements and weddings I recommend at least 6 months in advance.

A 20% non-refundable retainer is due to reserve your date/session. Payment plans are available with final payment due no later than 36 hrs before your event.

Life happens and for whatever reason, you may find yourself needing to cancel. Rescheduling is free as long as I have availability. You may cancel for a full refund minus your retainer up to 7 days in advance.

What if the weather is bad?

In the case of unfavorable weather, we'll still shoot unless safety is a concern. I'll keep a close eye on the forecast as your event approaches. In the case of rain or snow, I always carry umbrellas - they can add a fun element to your photos!

Where do you shoot? travel policy

For portrait sessions, I typically shoot within 2 hours of Golden, Colorado, with no additional fees. Everywhere is open for discussion though. Outside of that radius, I typically charge an additional $50 per half hour of travel time.

For elopements & weddings, transportation and lodging will be included in your quote.

Can my dog attend?

YES! As long as local leash laws and leave-no-trace principles are followed, your pup may definitely attend your portrait session or wedding.  In some Colorado counties, your dog may even sign your marriage certificate!

If you'd like them present but are concerned about behavior, I recommend inviting a friend or family member to be your official pup handler.

What about an officiant?

One of the things that makes Colorado the PERFECT elopement destination is that it's a self-solemnization state meaning you don't need any witnesses to get married or an officiant! You can sign your marriage certificate yourself and it's done!

You may want an officiant for personal or religious reasons and that's perfectly okay too! In that case, I'll help you find someone local if you don't already have someone in mind.

Do we need permits?

While there are some locations we may not need a permit for professional photography, many locations in Colorado at least do require them for both portrait sessions & weddings. I handle all permits before your session.

Are you lgbtq+ Inclusive?

Absolutely. I believe love is love and all couples and families deserve to be celebrated regardless of what they look like.

What if I want flowers or cake or champagne at my elopement?

Then it's yours! I work with you to make sure every detail of what you want your day to look like is there (within reason of course!). You want flowers? I can arrange that! You want a delicious cake cutting and a champagne pop? I'll bring that too!

For additional questions, I'm only a message away!

Inquire

Do I need a second shooter?

In short, no. My sessions are unhurried and intentional making it easy for me to document them on my own. However, there are times where you may want a second shoot for your intimate wedding.

If that's something you're interested in, let me know! I have several second shooters to choose the best for your big day. The cost associated will be reflected in your contract.

Do you offer senior portraits? What about mini sessions?

I do offer Senior portrait sessions on a limited basis. If that's something you're looking for, please inquire!

As for minis, I don't offer traditional minis. The rushed nature and limited end product doesn't align with my documentation style. However, I do occasionally offer themed studio sessions and holiday sessions. Follow me on social media to stay in the loop!
